MORE ABOUT THE ANNIE RUTH STATHAM I CARE MEMORY ORGANIZATION

Hello! I'm Donna with the Annie Ruth Statham I Care Memory Organization. I'm dedicated and very passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

At I Care Memory, we believe in strengthening our community and addressing the challenges faced by seniors, memory care residents, and the disabled. Our mission is to provide a community activity center that focuses on:

Wellness Plans

Economic Security

Offering resources and support to ensure financial stability for our community seniors

Social Development

Encouraging social interaction and meaningful relationships with one's peers

Regional Planning

A VARIETY OF EXERCISE FOR OUR SENIOR RESIDENTS

At I Care Memory, we champion the abilities and potential of every individual. We create an environment where individuals with dementia feel encouraged to engage in activities and express themselves. With gentle support and stimulating experiences, they rediscover their strengths and experience moments of joy and accomplishment.

I'm consistently inspired by the joy and enthusiasm our participants bring to every activity, including our popular Hip Hop core strengthening exercises. It's wonderful to witness their energy and engagement as they prioritize their health and well-being.

ART PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS, AND MEMORY CARE RESIDENTS

These programs are designed to engage and empower individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Through the vibrant colors and creative expression of art, we tap into the preserved abilities and unique perspectives of each person. Art becomes a means of communication, self-discovery, and joy. By showcasing their creations, we celebrate their individuality and provide opportunities for reminiscence and connection.

Dede Winn

It is with heartfelt gratitude and admiration that I, as founder of the Annie Ruth Statham I Care Memory Organization and Survival of the Fittest Health Wellness Programs LLC, recognize the incredible Dede Winn. Dede embodies strength, character, and resilience, and her journey towards wellness has created a bond that I will hold dear forever.

Since beginning our exercise program, Dede has made remarkable strides. Her balance has improved significantly, allowing her to walk freely without the assistance of a cane. She has more energy and her memory remains sharp.

Witnessing Dede's progress fills me with joy. It's truly inspiring to see her thrive in her wellness journey and continue to excel in her artistic pursuits. Her dedication and spirit are a gift to all who know her.

THE ARTWORK OF DEDE WINN

It seems almost as if the universe, in its infinite wisdom and with a gentle touch of irony, sought to balance the scales. Dede faces challenges, yes, but she also possesses this extraordinary gift, this wellspring of creativity that flows through her and manifests in her beautiful artwork. Her art isn't just a hobby or a pastime; it's an intrinsic part of her being, a language she speaks with a fluency that words cannot match.

And that's what makes it so unforgettable. It's not just the aesthetic beauty of her creations, although that is certainly undeniable. It's the story they tell, the resilience they embody, the quiet strength they radiate. Each piece is a testament to her spirit, a defiant declaration that even in the face of adversity, beauty and creativity will find a way to bloom.

TESTIMONIALS

How the Annie Ruth Statham Foundation is Making a Change

Season's Alzheimer's MC

User Image

I would like to recognize Donna Gordon, the Exercise Coordinator at Season's Alzheimer's Memory Care Center on Nacogdoches for the outstanding job she does with the residents. Donna encourages the residents to participate and helps keep them active and engaged with their physical mobility three times a week. Donna's knowledge and experience working with Alzheimer's patients derived from caring for her mother, as her mother battled with this mind crippling disease. The residents enjoy the music, exercises, especially the "Keeping the Balloons Afloat" activity. They also enjoy the lollipops treat after their excercises. It really helps the residents stay active, plus you also see them enjoying themselves having fun. Thank you, Veronica Vela Davila

When you have been out of shape your entire life, and starting an exercise program seems like the scariest thing you can do, you feel like no one understands. BUT Donna UNDERSTOOD!!! She knew we had to start with tiny baby steps and I love her for that. Donna was an answer to our prayers. I can't tell you how many trainers say they understand, but don't. Adaptive Exercise Opportunities

User Image

My son has cerebral palsy with major lower limb involvement. Many, or most “normal” exercises are a challenge because of his lack of balance while standing. About two years ago, we found Donna Gordon’s “Sit and Be Fit” class at the City of San Antonio, Walker Ranch Senior Center. This seated, adaptive activity accommodates my son’s disability. Donna’s class offers my son safe, upper body exercise. Throughout the class, Donna always offers instruction, gentle correction and positive encouragement to all participants. We are grateful to Donna Gordon for the work she is doing with Seniors and others needing Adaptive exercise opportunities. - Angelina A.
